Location.Characters can choose to be from several different locations depending on their race.
Juniper Born: Characters in the Juniperan race can choose to have been born outside the dome in the pre-industrial post-apocalyptic Juniperan villages and clans. Juniperans only live human lifespans. None of them would have been alive when the Great War occurred (between 500-700 years prior). None of them would have been alive when the Fornax landed (approx 300 years prior). It is currently 324AL (After Landing).
Fornax Born: Robots and Pixies especially can be Fornax-Born. Some of them may remember the Fornax landing. They may remember New Convergence being built. This means they must be 300+ years. It is rare for other supernaturals to have been on the Fornax. Fornax Born characters CAN vaguely remember having met or seen Starry or other persons like Dr. Zeta.
New Convergence Born: Characters can be from New Convergence city. This means they were born in New Convergence after the Fornax was broken down and built into a city. They must be 300 years or less.
Star System Born: Characters can be from one of the space colonies founded on moons and planets visited by ships from New Convergence. On very rare occasions, they may have even been born on, and grown up on, ships.
New Earth: Characters can be new, but from the old CV2 Earth. They simply escaped here to avoid the Dark.
Other Earths: Characters can also have been from other iterations of Earth. These may be iterations of Earth where D13 did not strike, or even where Supernaturals were never revealed, meaning that all this magic and craziness might be new to them. These “Other Earths” should be fairly close to our modern Earth, or Earth’s past, and can never impart knowledge or ability beyond what is capable for starting characters.
Appropriate Realm: Your character may be from another Realm, like the Abyssals from the Abyss, and simply have arrived in Juniper through the portals.
Adult children of former PCs: Children of former PCs are allowed under certain rules.
Both parents of the children (if both PCs) must agree to the children being played.
Both parents of the children (if both PCs) must agree on who will be playing the children.
The parents can not play the children UNLESS they are forfeiting their parent characters.
The children are “aged up” to 18 through a “portal accident”. Maybe they ended up on another planet for 18 years and grew up and then find their way to Juniper. Whatever.
Just like with CV2, people are allowed to start with one weapon, but we also will allow them to start with one piece of standard technology OR a second weapon OR common armor that does not cost XP. So this could be like a cellphone, or a bulletproof vest, or a second gun.
Transfer characters are all from CV2. Players can transfer at a rate of one character per month for the first four months, with up to three total characters being transferred. A transfer character counts as a character being created for that month, and they can not make an additional new character that month if they transfer. Staff will be allowed a fourth character, should they wish it.
Character transfer will deduct a 10% charge of total spent XP for that character, rounded in favor of the player. IC, this represents having to re-learn skills and magics to be able to utilize them in a new environment. OOC, this is so that we can level the playing board a bit.
Character race change will deduct a 10% charge of unspent XP per character that changes race on that avatar. However, because they will be accruing XP while they are playing, we’re not going to deduct anything from the accrued XP. Hopefully we can use a snapshot of XP at the beginning to calculate this so that the charge is constant.
How to Transfer:
Player MUST know the Enjin name of their former character’s account. This will be a question on the application for the transfer character
If there is a race change, they must note that on the app (we’ll have a question for it), as well as a question about whether or not they previously completed a level 3 quest.
Player must make a NEW Enjin account. They will start their transfer character from this account. Unfortunately, Enjin only allows one application per account using the system we are using. We apologize for the inconvenience.
They will apply as if they are a new character, taking starting points, putting in their BG, etc.
They will be approved assuming their BG lines up with their old BG. BGs should be updated a little if possible. They can spend points differently this time around, however.
App handlers will consult the CV2 ending snapshot in the database as well as their old Enjin app. A notation will be made as to how many SPENT and UNSPENT xp they have.
10% will be deducted from SPENT XP as transfer fee. The app handler will then reply telling the player how much xp they can spend on creation. The player will then be allowed to spend the rest of their SPENT xp, listing what they want to buy. The new spends must be from the CV3 catalog of powers, and must be things the character can take with respect to their race, etc. Players are allowed to bring over ONE specially apped power or item as long as it makes sense in the CV3 world. Players must spend ALL of their spent XP at this time. If they do not spend it at creation, it is lost. It will not be added back to their unspent XP. If one point ends up being unspent, because there is literally nothing they can buy (this is sometimes the case because most powers cost 2 points or more), that point will be note on their app applied as a deduction to their first XP purchase.
10% will be deducted from UNSPENT if they have race-changed. This will need to be reflected by adjusting their XP on the XP page. This may require coordination between XP and APPS handlers or the apps handlers having access to XP database for a while. There will be a few race changes that will be free. Yokai may race-change for free. Fae must choose a new subrace in the Faemorii structure. Underkin race changes will be free as long as they choose the free new race under this scheme:
All Underkin can change to Faemorii for free.
Mer can instead choose to be Cetea for free.
Lamia can instead choose to be Naga for free.
Drow can instead choose to be Voidlyth/High Drow for free.
Draikana can instead choose to be Drakes for free.
Imps can instead choose to be Nephilim for free.
Erzheka can instead choose to be Natha Erz for free.
Duergar can instead choose to be Human, Sylvani or Mutant for free.
Aghaia can instead choose to be Human, Mutant or Mage for free.
Players who completed their level 3 quests will be allowed to re-purchase level 3 powers at the beginning OR (if they don’t have the XP) they can bring a second specially-apped power over from their old character sheet. They will also be awarded +5 XP to their SPENT XP tally. This +5 XP is to represent the effort they put forth in completing the level 3 quests that will no longer be represented in CV3. Players who were IN THE PROCESS of doing their level 3 quests (they had submitted level 3 requests by the time CV2 closed) may start with level 3 if they have the XP (or get the second specially), but do not get the +5XP completion bonus. If the character has race-changed and their level 3 magic is no longer available to their new race, they may choose a new magic at level 3.
Items accrued in CV2 that are not brought over as “special item” by transfer players are considered either LOST or POWERED DOWN. For Powered Down - the item came with you to Juniper, but the magic is now inert or non-functional. For Lost Items - Lost items may eventually be found again somewhere on Juniper. (Portal accident. Your items got poofed to somewhere else on Juniper). POWERED DOWN items may eventually be powered back up through the usual XP expenditure methods.
After 4 months, XP character transfers from CV2 will NO LONGER be allowed. However, players past this time can choose to bring characters over, they simply will be without their SPENT XP. Their accrued XP is still theirs to keep and spend at the normal rate.
